Why this series exists

Understanding through shared knowledge

Contributions Ledger aims to strengthen understanding between Japan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo through organized, accessible knowledge.

My experience as a MEXT scholarship student in Japan helped shape this purpose. Mutual understanding depends on sharing information about our societies and explaining the context in which it makes sense. Experience in both countries can help identify what readers need to know and present that knowledge in ways that are meaningful to them.

Seminars with Professor Yoko Hasebe’s students made me more aware of gaps in our knowledge of each other, especially the need for organized information about the Democratic Republic of the Congo that readers in Japan can readily access and understand.

The series begins with my own contributions. Over time, it may welcome other contributors who share this purpose.
